Mommy Time and Transition

Well, my annual girls' beach trip came and went like a lightning bolt. We drove down on Thursday and came back this past Sunday. The trip really felt like it was way too short this year. I had a very nice time, got some relaxing in, and had A LOT of fun!! I've got bronchitis and was doing quite a bit of coughing during the trip but I'm finally on some meds so hopefully it will be over soon. Thank you to everyone who helped me out with the kiddos while I was gone! *You know who you are! A big Thanks to my Doug who was the reason I could go.
The kids have been doing well. It's been a transition time in our household right now. Tyler has decided to take a break from travel baseball, Reed got off of his passy, and Ansley is doing well in Soccer. We just decided as a family that we don't get enough family time together and so far it has been much easier on everyone.
We are planning a trip to Myrtle Beach the beginning of October to see The Roberts. I am looking forward to seeing them and their new home. I miss my Marsha already!!
Well folks, that's all for now! Happy Fall!!

Thrifty Projects

Here are a couple of projects I've been working on lately. Well, I've HELPED work on. My friend, Kellye has gotten me into thrift store shopping and well, the Salvation Army has been my Target lately. I've redone two chairs which are in my foyer-I bought them for $8 each; and we redid two lamps for my master nightstands-$15 for both. Here are the finished products. I didn't take before pics; but trust me, they were hideous.

I Love my Marsha...

...and the Roberts Family too!
My bestest friend, Marsha; and her family (Dylan, Jacob, Brodie and Slither) are leaving the wonderful state of Alabama!
Although it's great for them, it stinks for me. I met this family in June of 2003. We were neighbors for exactly a whole year until Marsha and I met. Their son, Dylan was the exact same age as Tyler. They became best buddies. Her husband, Jacob, became great friends with Doug. Jacob is probably the closest thing Doug has had to a best friend since college. Who knew the moms would be such awesome friends? We have had many, many, many great times together: as moms, as dads, as friends, as families. We've been through births, birthdays, holidays, cookouts, baseball, cheerleading, moving, wrecks, job changes, sad times, good times, awkward times, and most importantly, GREAT times. And all this we've been through together. I am so going to miss you guys!!! I'm so glad we got to have so much fun this past weekend! Congratulations Jacob on your promotion! We Love you guys!

Music

Sometimes, just sometimes, I really LOVE music. I don't get enough time by myself to listen to it; but when I do--I really give in and listen. I know it's cheesy (CAN I GET SOME WINE WITH THAT?) but I really love The Fray. For some reason their songs speak to me. Forgive the short post; but sometimes I really just want this blog to be about "ME".

Happy Birthday Granny!

Today is my beautiful mother-in-law, Sheryl's birthday. Our crew met the other Hemphill crew out at IHop for her birthday breakfast. It was great to be together because we certainly don't do it enough! I hope you are enjoying the rest of your day! Happy Birthday, Sheryl! We love you!

Friends, Food & Fireworks...

sure makes for a great Fourth of July! We had a great time today. Joe and Kellye hosted an awesome get together today. The kids enjoyed playing on the "redneck waterslide" and the BIG water slide! Jeff E., Doug, and Jeff R. made some delicious ribs and brisket, and we had a lot of wonderful sides to go along with our meat! We had some great fellowship and the kids got worn out!! Hope everyone had a great Fourth!
